Literature Text

I am jasmine downy pearls steeped
and soaked. Unfurling uncertainly-responding
to the warmth of the world.
I am lapsang souchang, strong and smokey
my intensity covering inferiority.
Wissotzky mango and passion fruit,
bright and muddled, teabag bursting with depth
Or simple and sweet,
good for one wash only. I am tisane of valerian, sharp
and earthy with bitter anxiety that swallows
events like a moist grave. Steaming over steeped
chamomile, thick and soothing, trying too hard to stem tears.
Proud empress grey with excessive bergamont,
capable of anything. Take me plain
please with no milk to mellow the tannins, or
sugar to sweeten the flaws. Leave out
lemon, it is your tartness you taste.
A long time ago a English teacher had my class read a portrait poem, and then write our own. Mine was mediocre, but I thought of it when drinking tea and I wondered what my favorite teas said about me. It may or may not be accurate. I'm rather new to poetry,so constructive criticism is welcome. I'm thinking maybe playing with the stresses?

That comment was beautiful in it's own way. Anything I say falls short. I like your poem.
